John is a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Taxation and has over 35 years of practical experience in advising across the full range of both Irish and UK taxation. He is the Professor of Tax at the University of Ulster.

He is also the author of Judge: Irish Income Tax, published now by Bloomsbury (previously Tottel) and has contributed over 150 articles to professional journals on tax matters.
